Review Of Maneerote Hotel, Surin

views

For our few days in Surin we decided to stay at our usual place, which is Maneerote Hotel. This hotel is fairly centrally located, very clean, has friendly staff, is reasonable priced and has a good cafe on the ground floor. It’s the perfect place for us to stay. We paid 1,414 baht ($40) for three nights by booking with Agoda. So that’s only around $13 per night for a double room.

Reception & Exterior

Maneerote is a 6-floor hotel, with the rooms facing the front having the best views. Higher floors also have better views. The hotel has been around for years, but it is still kept very clean and is a nice place to spend a few days.

The reception area has a good selection of drinks and snacks available. There is also a cafe on the ground floor next to the reception area. It’s called Muang Chaang Coffee (Elephant City Coffee).

Superior Room At Maneerote Hotel

There are two types of room available at this hotel, standard double room (28 sqm) and VIP twin room (35 sqm). It’s a shame that none of the VIP rooms have double beds. The only difference between the rooms though is that the VIP rooms are bigger.

The double bed we had was quite large and very comfortable. The room had blackout curtains, so we slept well every night. The room also had TV, small fridge, and plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space.

At the entrance to the room there is luggage storage space and a handy shelf.

The bathroom was fairly large, and the shower was quite powerful.

Aircon in the room worked very well indeed, with all rooms having the very large aircon units that you often see in shops. They are much better than the home aircon units that most hotels have.

View From 5th Floor Room

This is the view from the rooms at the front of the hotel. This is what we could see from our 5th floor room. The views from the 6th floor are better. The view above is looking away from the city center.

And this is the view looking towards the city center.

Parking At Maneerote Hotel

As you can see from the image above, there is a fairly large car park at the hotel. If you get back late it can sometimes be full though. In that case it’s ok to park on the road outside the hotel. But check with staff just in case there are any parking restrictions. There haven’t been when we’ve stayed, but it’s possible there could be in the future.

Breakfast At Maneerote Hotel

Breakfast isn’t included in the price of the room, so you need to pay for this separately. The meals are cooked to order and there is an extensive menu of both Thai and Western dishes. Prices are pretty reasonable.

Wifi At Maneerote Hotel

The hotel has free wifi, and it’s always worked well when we’ve stayed there. During our recent visit I tested the wifi speed as 12.54 Mbps download and 7.74 Mbps upload.

Location

The location of the hotel is great for a few days in Surin. It’s just a couple of hundred meters from a huge market, and just at the edge of the city center. Surin train station is around 1.3 km away, and costs around 60 baht ($1.70) by tuk tuk.
