Key West is the ideal spot for a romantic trip for just the two of you. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, babymoon or just a weekend to rekindle your love for each other, you can find lots of opportunities to reconnect here. Check out these great ideas to start planning your itinerary today.

Book a Pampering Resort

There are many full-service resorts in Key West, and many of them include upscale spa services, too. Enjoy luxury accommodations, indulge in room service, on-site bars and restaurants, and amenities like private beaches, pools, and lawn games. These resorts sometimes offer transportation from the airport and concierge services, too. Casa Marina is a Waldorf Astoria property; other well-known resorts include Parrot Key Hotel & Villas, Ocean Key Resort & Spa, and The Marker Key West Harbor Resort. Having someplace exclusive to return to every night can provide you with a distraction-free experience. Just sitting by the pool with a fruity frozen drink can do wonders for your moods and let you focus on each other.

Bicycle Around Town

Free yourself from schedules and stress by making the day your own with a self-guided tour of Key West by bicycle. Most hotels and resorts have bikes to borrow or you can rent them locally. Fortunately, the island of Key West is small enough you can bike it easily. Use the time to roam Duval Street where shops and galleries are. Stop at Eaton Street Seafood Market for lunch, where you can get freshly prepared fish sandwiches, lobster roll, and conch fritters made with the day’s best catch. Bike to Southernmost Point and take the obligatory photo in front of the giant cement buoy that’s painted like a mile marker between the Keys and Cuba. There are multiple local beaches where you can sunbathe, swim, and snorkel. Most of them include concession areas where you can rent beach umbrellas, chairs, and snorkeling gear for the day. Cap off your day of biking around town with a relaxing massage or body treatment at your hotel or a local spa like Prana. The best part of biking around Key West is being able to go wherever you want, without having to wait for others in a tour or group. If you decide to linger a little longer at any one stop, there isn’t anyone’s schedule to worry about but your own.

Have an Adventure

Make beautiful memories by spending the day at Dry Tortugas National Park. Book the ferry well in advance of your trip to ensure you get a spot. There are several great places for snorkeling in the park, even if you’re a novice. Explore coral reefs and shipwrecks in the clear and calm waters. You can also tour historic Fort Jefferson, swim and picnic, go kayaking, and try birdwatching. As an alternate plan, go on a charter fishing trip with All In Fishing Charters. It’s another wonderful opportunity to practice something new together. You can book a half- or full-day charter for tarpon, grouper, snapper, and more. Everything you need is included so you don’t even need to worry about bringing fishing poles. These fishing trips run year-round and the catch varies by season. Rest easy because the experienced captain and crew ensure everyone has a good time; they even provide tips and advice for those without a lot of experience. And if one of you makes the catch of the day, you can bring it to one of several area restaurants that will cook your catch so you can enjoy it with your lunch or dinner.

For a fun time, challenge each other to climb the Key West Lighthouse. This historic structure was built in 1848 and it takes 88 steps to reach the top. The lighthouse keeper’s cottage next door is also open for exploration; the exhibits and artifacts will give you a great idea of what life was like for the lighthouse keepers and how important their job was in keeping ships safe from crashing against the reefs off of Key West. Or if you’d rather have a more low-key adventure, visit the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum and explore shipwrecks and treasure hunting through the years. You can get all of the excitement and none of the danger. The museum has plenty of sunken treasures on display as well as informative exhibits that demonstrate the commitment, risk, and ultimate rewards of treasure hunting. If you’re really captivated by the idea, you can also add a behind-the-scenes tour of the museum’s conservation lab to your admission ticket.

Planning a romantic getaway to Key West is easy. There are so many exciting things for you to do as a couple, you’ll have no problem finding opportunities to reconnect and fall in love all over again. No matter what time of year you travel, the inviting sunshine and warm weather are the ideal backdrops to your couples vacation.
