Central BBQ has been ranked as the number one spot for barbeque in Memphis. The restaurant was founded by Craig Blondis and Roger Sapp who met on the barbeque circuit in the mid-80s. They have competed in Memphis in May’s World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and many local and regional BBQ competitions. They became friends in those competitions and eventually became business partners. In 2006, due to customer demand, they opened Central BBQ’s second location on Summer Avenue. On October 2012, they opened their Downton location and their fourth location in East Memphis in 2018.
