Bang Wa BTS – Restaurants, Cafes, Bars

views

Bang Wa is the last stop on the BTS Silom line, so yesterday we decided to go take a look to see what life is like at the end of the line. Bang Wa seemed a pretty sleepy place, although there are a huge amount of condos in the area, with many new ones also being built. It looks like an area that will continue to grow over the coming years.

Cafes & Restaurants

As Bang Wa seemed quite a sleepy place, we were pleasantly surprised to come across the Anglo American Cafe. This is a very large restaurant/cafe that has been renovated from 5 or 6 shophouses, so it’s very spacious inside.

As the name suggests, it’s an influence of American and British culture. They serve a range of food, including both Thai and Western, and prices are very reasonable.

This is a relaxing place and the owner and staff and very friendly. The owner has lived in the area his whole life, so suggested some places to visit when we go back again.

The cafe also has a separate area set aside for English study groups, so it’s a good place to come for anyone wanting to learn English.

Location: Phet Kasem Road (near Soi 27)

Opening Hours: Tue-Sun 11:00-21:00; Mon Closed

Hot Americano: 40 baht ($1.20)

Cafe Amazon

We spotted this Cafe Amazon branch right at the bottom of the BTS steps that lead onto Phet Kasem Road.

Location: Phet Kasem Road (next to BTS)

We also spotted a Chao Doi cafe at one of the new condo buildings just off Phet Kasem Road, and there were also quite a few shophouse restaurants dotted around.

Street Food

There is quite a lot of street food on Phet Kasem Road near the BTS station. Some of it is takeaway while other places also have seating.

Phet Kasem Road

As far as we could tell, this seemed to be the main hub. It’s where Siam University is located, so is quite lively at night.

As you can see from the above photo, there are lots of new condo buildings springing up around the BTS station. Lots more or also being built.

Just to the left of of the image above you can see the sign for Siam University.

In the images above you can see the newly constructed Blue Line extension. This is part of the MRT system and links to the BTS at Bang Wa. It should be open in 2019.

Bang Wa BTS

Bang Wa BTS station is larger than most BTS stations, and connects to the new Blue Line, which will open in 2019.

Yet another new condo building being built next to Bang Wa BTS station.

It will be interesting to see what this area is like in another ten years or so. I imagine it will become much busier. We’ll add some more updates of new things we find when we next visit.
