Bangkok Local Markets – Silom Soi 10

It’s fair to stay that Thai people love to eat, and when it comes to lunchtimes a food court is usually where they head. One of the biggest food courts in the Silom area is located at Silom Soi 10 Market, which is near the junction of Silom Road and Naratiwas Road. It’s located just behind ITF Tower.

The market stretches all the way from Silom Road right back to Naratiwas Soi 1. The food court is at the back of the market. If you enter from the Silom Road end you probably wouldn’t notice that there was such a huge market tucked behind what looks like a dead-end soi. The first section is made up of stalls on either side selling mainly clothes, DVDs and food.

I used to go to this market more often and wondered why none of the shophouses had been renovated because it’s such a great, central location. But on my last visit, I noticed that one of the houses has been renovated and is now a hostel (In Train – add your affiliate link here). I didn’t check inside but it looks like a nice place and is only a few minutes’ walks from Chong Nonsi BTS station.

At the end of the short soi (lane), you’ll come to the main market entrance. This section mostly sells women’s clothes, mobile phone covers, cosmetics, and household goods. There are some stores to the left where you’ll find some hair salons and cosmetic stores.

This area is really buzzing at lunchtimes, as there are some very large office buildings around it. As well as eating, Thai women like to shop, and this is the place where they can do both,

Once you get further into the market you’ll see the food court. This is a huge area and probably has seating for 500 people. Despite its the size it’s difficult to get a seat during the main lunchtime rush at around 12:30. I would suggest arriving between 11:00 and 11:30 if you want to get a seat and a good choice of food. Come after 14:00 and much of the food will be finished.

You’ll find all types of Thai food here, including two vegan stalls. Stalls are located on both sides as well as down the center. There are probably around 60-80 food stalls in total, and that’s not counting those out on the main road.

Leave the food stall via the back entrance and you’ll be on Naratiwas Soi 1. There are food stalls all along this road, so you can buy whatever you want.

As this market is mainly for office workers, it’s only open Monday to Friday.
