Central BBQ has been ranked as the number one spot for barbeque in Memphis. The restaurant was founded by Craig Blondis and Roger Sapp who met on the barbeque circuit in the mid-80s. They have competed in Memphis in May’s World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and many local and regional BBQ competitions. They became friends in those competitions and eventually became business partners. It was in 2002 when the first Central BBQ on Central Avenue was opened and ever since it has been stoked due to a lot of customers.

The success of Central BBQ in Memphis has gained national interest over the years. Its founders, Craig and Roger, have appeared on different national television shows such as The Best Thing I Ever Ate, Pitmasters, and BBQ with Bobby Flay. Central BBQ has been featured in national publications as well like the USA Today, Southern Living, Men’s Health, and Garden & Sun.

In 2006, due to customer demand, they opened Central BBQ’s second location on Summer Avenue. On October 2012, they opened their Downton location and their fourth location in East Memphis in 2018.

Central BBQ offers a lot of delicious foods. They have snacks like smoked hot wings, BBQ nachos, and sausage and cheese plate. They serve a slab of ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and turkey. They also have sandwiches and salads. They also have some homemade desserts available like cheesecake, ice cream, and banana pudding. And if you’re on a diet, they also serve gluten-free foods.
