Tennen Toufu is a small Japanese restaurant in Sathorn, just a short walk from Chan Road. As the name suggests, this place specializes in tofu dishes. The make all the tofu themselves on the ground floor of the restaurant, and you can see all the machinery behind a glass partition. It’s quite fascinating.

When we first visited this restaurant, we assumed that it was vegetarian, simply because almost all the dishes feature tofu. I was originally going to order the Tofu Beefburger, but it wasn’t available, so I opted for the Tofu Steak instead. It was only later that we found out that the tofu beefburger did actually have beef in it.

The main seating area is on the second floor, and it’s typical Japanese style – clean and simple. There are buzzers on the table that you need to use to call the waitress, as she usually stays downstairs, where this is a more informal eating area on stools facing the tofu-making equipment.

The menus are in English, Thai and Japanese. Above you can see some of the special dishes. You will also see that the prices are pretty cheap.

I can’t remember what the above dish was called, but it included some meat/fish and kimchi.

You can get to Tennen Toufu from either Sathorn Road or Chan Road. From Sathorn Road, turn into Sathorn Soi 11, then follow this road until it turns into Soi Chan 18/7. Tennen Toufu will be on your right.

If coming from Chan Road, Tennen Toufu will be on your left. It’s about a 5-minute walk.

Opening Hours: Sun-Sat 07:00-20:00

Nearest BTS Station: Surasak (you can get a Songthaew from there to the restaurant for 7 baht). Suksa Wittaya BTS station will open in 2019, so will then be the closest one.
