Tamarind Market Hua Hin

views

Last time we visited Hua Hin a few years ago, Cicada Market was the premier weekend market, so we were interested to find out what the new Tamarind Market was like, as it’s located right next door.

Like its neighbor, Tamarind Market is also only open on weekends, although it’s open for one day longer. It’s open Thursday through Sunday from 17:00 to 23:00.

This market is all about eating. Over 90% of the stalls sell food and drink, with a few stalls near the side entrance selling clothes and bags.

The food is typical Thai market fare. As Hua Hin is a seaside town there are lots of seafood dishes, as you’d expect. There are also grilled meats such as pork and chicken, healthy smoothies and juices, wraps of various sorts, spring rolls, Pad Thai and other popular Thai dishes.

The stalls are all located around the outer edge of the market with the seating in the middle. So you just walk around the stalls, choose what you want and then find a seat. The main problem is that this market is so popular that it can be almost impossible to find a spare seat. When we visited from around 6-7 pm it was completely packed.

There were only two or three stalls selling non-food items, but we thought the guitar bags above looked pretty cool. Also, check out that classic Mazda.

This market has a very cool vibe and is a nice place to hang out for an hour or so eating food with friends and family. After you’ve finished you can head next door to Cicada Market.
