Supermarkets In Hua Hin

views

If you’re only in Hua Hin for a short time you may not realize what a wide range of supermarkets it has. But now that we’ve been here for a couple of months we’ve discovered everything that’s available. That means high-end places like Gourmet Market to less well-known places such as Golden Place. Here’s a fairly comprehensive list of the supermarkets in Hua Hin.

No matter what when you traveling to a new place, you likely still have things from “home” you can’t find on your adventure.  Be sure to check out our guides on what to take with you:

Gourmet Market

Gourmet Market is our favorite, as it has just about everything an expat could want. There is a very large selection of both Thai and Western food, mostly at pretty reasonable prices. Gourmet Market is located on the ground floor at the rear of Blupost Shopping Mall.

Address: Bluport Shopping Mall, Phetkasem Road

Opening Hours: 10:00-21:00 every day

Golden Place

Golden Place sources the majority of its products from the Royal Project and local farmers and community groups. It focuses on sustainable and environmentally friendly and chemical-free products, so this is a good reason to support it. The branch in Hua Hin has a great selection of fresh and dried foods at prices much lower than other supermarkets. To give a quick comparison, their salad bar is 180 baht per kilo, while it’s 250 baht at TOPS Market and 280 baht at Tesco Lotus.

Address: 5/15-16 Phetkasem Road (at Hua HinSoi 37)

Opening Hours: 06:00-24:00 every day

Villa Market

There are two branches of Villa Market in Hua Hin – one on Phetkasem Road near San Paulo Hospital and the other in the Borfai area in the north of the city. Villa Market is geared towards Western foods and its prices are a little higher than at more traditional supermarkets such as TOPS Market. The choice is better at Villa Market though.

Address: 218/1-4 Phetkasem Road (at Hua HinSoi 84 next to San Paulo Hospital)

17/139 SoiMoobanBorfai

Opening Hours: 08:00-22:00 every day (Phetkasem Road)

08:00-20:00 every day (Borfai)

Tops Market

This is a mid-range Thai supermarket chain that mainly appeals to middle-class Thai shoppers and Western expats. It doesn’t have as much choice of Western foods as Villa Market or Gourmet Market but prices tend to be a little cheaper on the items we buy. There is a good selection of salad and hot food at the Hua Hin branch.

Address: 226/3 Phetkasem Road (at Hua HinSoi 88)

Opening Hours: 08:00-23:00 every day

Tesco Lotus

Tesco Lotus is located in Market Village so is a very convenient location. Tesco Lotus is part-owned by the British supermarket Tesco, so Brits will be very familiar with it. They have a good choice of Thai and Western foods.

Address: Market Village, 234 Phetkasem Road

Opening Hours: 09:00-22:00 every day

Makro

Makro is a popular supermarket for Thai people. The Hua Hin branch is located in the north of the city near Hua Hin airport. We’ve never used this supermarket, as we have been staying south of Hua Hin.

Address: 164 Phetkasem Road (at Hua HinSoi 4)

Opening Hours: 06:00-222:00 every day

7-Eleven

You don’t have to travel far to find a branch of 7-Eleven. We have one just 50 meters from our condo. If you’ve spent any time in Thailand you’ll know how ubiquitous 7-Eleven stores are. If you’re vegan or vegetarian be sure to check out our post of vegan and vegetarian food at 7_Eleven Thailand.

Address: Everywhere

Opening Hours: 24/7 every day

Family Mart

Family Mart stores are very similar to 7-Eleven stores, although there are less of them around the city. We’ve seen a few on Phetkasem Road and at various other locations.

Address: Phetkasem Road and other places

Opening Hours: 24/7 every day

Hua Hin Shopping Mall

Hua Hin Shopping Mall is located just a few minutes’ walk from the main night market on Soi 76. It’s a very old shopping mall spread over a few floors, with the main supermarket section being on the ground floor. The store looks very dated but prices for some products are considerably cheaper than at the other malls. As an example, the tea we buy costs 215 baht at most supermarkets but is only 179 baht here. So that’s a 36 baht saving on just one item.

Address: 110 Phetkasem Road (at Hua HinSoi 74/2)

Opening Hours: 09:30-21:30 every day
