The beaches of Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is what first comes to mind when it comes to popular resorts in Bulgaria. It has more than 15 kilometers of sandy beaches, luxury hotels, restaurants and nightclubs — all of these await you here!

The beaches themselves feature sun beds and sun shades (they cost 8 to 10 levs), changing rooms, massage, lifeguards and a variety of water activities. There are also water parks, a mini-golf and electric scooters (which you can rent). For the locals and some foreign vacationers though, Sunny Beach is way beyond their budget, but for others though the prices seem to be acceptable.

Top five-star hotels in Sunny Beach

In Sunny Beach there are little more than a dozen five-star hotels. In terms of service and comfort they are almost at par with the leading hotels of Turkey or Egypt. In this case, prices for accommodation are little lower here.

We have analyzed genuine tourist’s reviews and based from these reviews, we have picked the top five five-star hotels here in Sunny Beach:

Boutique Apart Hotel Versis

It is a rather small but very comfortable and cozy option. It is ideal for holidays with families or large groups. It has free Internet access, a swimming pool, a sunbathing terrace and free parking. The hotel is located just in 250 meters from a bus station.

Royal Palace Helena Park – Ultra All Inclusive

This is a hotel with the “all-inclusive” service (plus the prefix “ultra”) — which indicates the wide range of food and alcoholic drinks. Nice hotel area, clean and quiet. There are also safes to keep your valuables, as well as agym and a spa.

Helena VIP Villas and Suites

The hotel is located in the Northern part of Sunny Beach, near the resort of Saint Vlas and near a large and beautiful park. Nearby there is a water park. Top four-star hotels in Sunny Beach

For those who don’t mind booking at five-star hotels, here are our selection of four-star hotels. In our opinion, in terms of quality and service these hotels are not too far from their five-star counterparts.

DIT Majestic Beach Resort

If we had to name the best four-star hotel, this hotel seems to be the best and the most popular. Tourists enjoy several excellent swimming pools, great accommodation and great food. Everything is well-groomed and well-maintained. However, the Internet is expensive and that is mostly the source of their complaints. First-class service that is comparable with the five-star hotels here.

This option is ideal for a beach holiday as well as for families. The hotel is very clean and well maintained, there is a friendly staff and excellent animation team. Rooms are equipped with safes. It is all-inclusive hotel, the selection of dishes and the food is very good. Of course, there is a pool, a bar, a spa, a gym and a business center. There is a parking nearby. The main feature of this hotel are a good food and an excellent animation team, so this means this hotel is also kid-friendly. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The hotel has a restaurant, a bar, a swimming pool and a gym. Guests are serviced 24 hours a day. Concerning the quality of service, there are no complaints, so far. It also has a parking lot near the hotel. Internet connection is not that stable, though.

DIT Evrika Beach Club Hotel – All Inclusive

Like most four-star hotels in Sunny Beach, this is all-inclusive hotel. It has a swimming pool and a good water park nearby. Food in this hotel gets the most praise – you can find various dishes and meals which are freshly prepared and always delicious. The hotel is located on the first line. It has a swimming pool, a bar, a restaurant, a gym and a business center. Except for the expensive Internet, this hotel is otherwise superb.

Galeon Apart Hotel & Spa

This hotel is located on the southern part of Sunny Beach, near the town of Nessebar. Our walk here by foot took about 15-20 minutes. Among its main advantages are spacious rooms, but guests complain mostly about the food and high rates.

If you prefer to live in your own apartment, and not at the hotel,we recommend AirBnB. On this website, people from across the world lease out and rent apartments. You also can try to find some interesting options in Sunny Beach:

Prices in Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is not only the most popular resort in Bulgaria, but it is also the most expensive. Prices are much higher than, for example, in the nearby town of Nessebar – an ancient city with elegant architecture.

Therefore, if you want a budget vacation, we really do not recommend this resort. It will be very expensive.

What if you do not want to deal with all of this and prefer to just sign up for a guided tour?

In Sunny Beach, guided tours are even cheaper compared to DIY tours. We found a rather interesting service that compares the prices of tours of the main tour operators and offers the cheapest options. Do not forget to specify the start and end dates you need after the search. By default, the search is done on the upcoming dates and selects tours for 2 people.

Thoughts on Sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is probably one of the most promoted resorts in Bulgaria. There is a huge number of hotels, restaurants and nightclubs. Sunny Beach attracts young people, and the rather wild nightlife shows that. The local vacationers we encountered were surprisingly nosy (which is not a typical Bulgarian trait).

Prices here are 3-4 times higher than in Pomorie. Besides, there is nothing to see and beaches are so crowded that there is no any desire to swim. If you are not that type of person who goes out at night, then you will be bored by this beach. But for those who love to be “out and about,” they will definitely enjoy going to discos, nightclubs and wild parties.

The first and lasting impression towards Sunny Beach? It is expensive and it attracts mostly the young and elitist crowd. If you want a pampered and comfortable beach holiday in Bulgaria, Sunny Beach gives you exactly what you need.
