My Place @ Hua Hin Hotel

views

My Place @ Hua Hin is an excellent hotel right in the city center. We’ve stayed in Hua Hin many times over the years, and this is a perfect location for us. It’s just 400 meters from the train station and around 200 meters from the famous night market.

Reception & Exterior

This hotel is 4 years old but it is so well kept that it looked like it was only a year old. Everything looks pretty new and everything works very well. This is just how hotels should be.

As you can see from the photo above, the hotel is in a new building and not one that has been renovated, as is the case with many other hotels in Hua Hin. This gives it a clean and modern look.

When we arrived at the hotel we were the only ones there, so check-in was fast and efficient. The receptionist was also quite friendly.

Superior Room At My Place @ Hua Hin

We booked a superior room, and this turned out to be at the back of the hotel. The views aren’t great, but we were out most of the time, so it wasn’t really an issue.

The room was fairly spacious and had almost everything we needed. It was super clean and very bright when the curtains were open. The only downsides to the room were that the mattress was too soft for us and the curtains were too thin, meaning too much light got into the room, even at night. But other guest reviews said that the bed was very comfortable, so this is obviously just a personal preference. If you like softer mattresses, then this is ideal for you. We still stay here again though.

The room had a fridge, and two free bottles of water were provided every day. One thing that was missing though was a kettle and cups. It’s always good to provide these for guests, but many hotels in Asia don’t.

The bathroom was very clean, with modern fixtures and fittings. The shower was perfect. Water temperature was easy to adjust and water flow was strong.

Our room also had a balcony with a small table and two chairs. This was handy, although we didn’t make much use of it.

Rooftop Pool At My Place @ Hua Hin

The hotel had a rooftop pool, but it was pretty small and only one meter deep. It was ok to cool off in, but wasn’t big enough to swim in. It was a nice addition to the hotel though.

You can just about see the sea from the rooftop pool area. It looks a little easier to see that it does in the photo above. The sea is about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel.

Breakfast At My Place @ Hua Hin

Breakfast was also included, and this was served in the lobby area. It was cooked breakfast, toast, juice, fruit and tea or coffee.

Wifi At My Place @ Hua Hin

We tested the wifi speed at the hotel using speedtest.net. As you can see from the results above, both the upload and download speeds were excellent. The wifi worked well the whole time we were there.

Location

The location is perfect for a few days in Hua Hin. It’s only around 400 meters from the train station, so it’s an easy walk even with luggage. This means you don’t have to pay for a tuk tuk. The famous Hua Hin Night Market is also only 300-400 meters away. The seafront, with its wide selection of bars and restaurants, is about a 5-10 minute walk.
