Baan KunKoey – Long-Term Accommodation In Hua Hin

When we first arrived in Hua Hin we decided to spend our first month in Kwanchanok Ville which is a new apartment hotel in the Soi 94 district. While we enjoyed our stay there and liked the area, we decided we needed to look for a place that had a kitchen, as we like to cook at least one meal a day at home.

After spending some time looking at various condos around the city we decided to stay at Baan KunKoey, which is a fairly new condo building around 4 km south of the city center. It was a great choice.

Baan KunKoey Reception

This condo development has two buildings, with our condo being in building B, which is next to the swimming pool. This is also where the main reception area is. This has some nice seating and free wifi, so is a good place to do some work.

Our Condo

Our room was located on the ground floor, so didn’t have the best view, but it did have trees and plants which help make it more relaxing. As it was the other side of the building from the pool, it was also very quiet, especially at night,

The main room had a large double bed, a settee and table, another small table and two chairs and a TV. The TV only had Thai channels, but other rooms might have English channels. We also had free wifi in the room.

The kitchen was small but had had everything we needed. There was a large fridge/freezer, a microwave, kettle, toaster, two hotplates, plus a range of dishes, cutlery, and pots anpans.

The bathroom was small but well laid out. The shower was separated by a glass panel and the water pressure and temperature controls worked very well.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool was right next to our building and was usually empty most mornings. During the day and evenings, there were usually around 5-10 people using it, so there was always plenty of room. The swimming pool was very large with separate sections for children. Most people using the pool seemed to be tourists who were staying a few weeks.

Fitness Room

The fitness room was small but I never saw more than two people in there. There was a treadmill, a cross trainer and stationary bike, as well as a range of free weights.

Parking

During our stay, there was always more than enough parking. I think most of the condo units are only used as holiday homes by people from Bangkok, so there isn’t too much demand for parking space.

Cost

We paid 12,000 baht ($380) for a 1-month stay at the condo. We had to pay electricity and water on top of that. Based on our stay at Kwanchanok, we estimate these two bills to be 1,200 baht and 200 baht respectively. So that would work out to around $420 all in for a one month stay.

We found some units that were very similar priced at 15,000 baht, so I would suggest you see a few before choosing one. Also, some don’t have wifi, so that’s another thing to bear in mind.

If you plan to stay less than a month the costs will be proportionately higher. Our unit was available for one week for 7,000 baht and one month for 12,000 baht.

Neighborhood

While the condo is out of the city center it’s actually in a great area. The beach is around 500 meters away, there is a 7-Eleven about 50 meters away, and there are quite a few cafes and small local restaurants within a few minutes’ walk. Bluport shopping mall is only 800 meters away, so is also an easy walk. There are songthaews and taxis parked just outside the building if you prefer not to walk.

How To Find A Condo

As these condos are individually owned it takes a little bit of extra work to find one. You will find a few on facebook and also on the ddproperty.com website. Just search for “Baan KunKoey” and then contact the individual owners/agents. You might also find a few units on hotel booking sites such as booking.com and Agoda.com.
