Kwan Im Vegetarian Restaurant, Singapore (Bugis)

views

Kwan Im vegetarian restaurant has been serving tasty and health vegetarian meals in the same location for almost 40 years. It’s located next to the iconic Goddess of Mercy Kwan Im Temple on Waterloo Street in the Bugis district. It’s part of the South East Asia Hotel.

When I visit I opted for the Vegetarian Chicken Curry. The dish above cost SG$12, but you could also choose large sizes for SG$15 and SG$20. The large dishes would be ideal for sharing.

Above you can see just one small part of an extensive menu. There is so much delicious food to choose from that i can be a difficult choice deciding what to get, If you’re part of a group I’d suggest all getting a different dish so that you can share.

Some notable choices on the menu included Sweet & Sour Vegetarian Mini Steak, Braised Vegetarian Abalone With Broccoli, Diced Vegetable & Cashew Nuts In Yam Ring, and Vegetarian Duck In Clay Pot. I am to try all of these on our next visit,

The Goddess of Iron Kwan Im Temple is very popular and also easy to find. The Kwan Im restaurant is right next door, so you can miss it.

In the above image, you can see the Kwan Im Vegetarian Restaurant on the ground floor of the South East Asia Hotel.

As you can see above, the restaurant has plenty of seating. I visited outside out the lunch and dinner rush, so it was fairly quite, although there were a few other groups sitting at the front section.

The restaurant also has a great selection of desserts to take away. These are displayed near the entrance.

This is a great restaurant that I will definitely be visiting again when I’m in Singapore.

Where To Stay In Singapore

For this trip we stayed at Hotel 81 Dickson, which is on the edge of the Little India neighborhood. It’s a budget hotel, but very clean and pretty reasonably priced for Singapore. It’s just a 5-10 minute walk away from Kwan Im Vegetarian Restaurant.

But Little India is a little scruffy compared to most of Singapore, so will not be to everyone’s liking. If you want to stay in a cleaner part of Singapore, you could try Hotel 81 Bugis. That is also a similar distance from Kwan Im Vegetarian Restaurant.
