4 Awesome Cafes In Bangrak, Bangkok

Sarnies

Sarnies is a hip Singapore café and eatery that’s just opened its first full branch in Bangkok. It’s located in a beautiful 150-year-old corner shop that used to be used to repair boats. It’s only a few minutes’ walk to the Chao Phraya river.

Charoenkrung is one of Bangkok’s hippest neighborhoods that has seen many changes over recent years, so now is a great time to visit, as it still has a good mixture of new and old. Sarnies is located in a typical side street for this area, with almost all the stores being locally owned and run, It’s a great place to see real Thai life in a traditional setting

Even though this shop has just opened it’s already become extremely popular and is difficult to get a seat at weekends. Even during the week it’s pretty full. We’ve even spotted a few celebrities there.

Bliss Cafe

Bliss Café is another place that has been recently renovated. As well as the café area downstairs, the upstairs section has also been renovated into a small boutique hotel with about 10 rooms.

Bliss is pretty different from other cafes in the area, as there is usually classical music playing, which gives it a really relaxed vibe. It’s popular with both teachers and students from the nearby school.

Churn Cafe

Churn Café is one of the places we visit quite regularly, as there are a few great Thai lunch places along the same stretch of the road. Pramuan Road is a small side street off Silom Road that attracts a large crowd of lunchtime office workers, so you can expect it to be pretty busy during those hours.

The street also has two large schools, so there is a lot of traffic early morning and late afternoon when parents arrive to pick up their kids.

One of the reasons I like Churn Café is because it’s one of the few places I know that sells decent tea. I usually drink coffee but would drink tea more often if I could find more cafes like this.

Bok Box

Bok Box is a dog-themed cafe, as the owner has around six small dogs. While it’s rare to see the actual dogs, everything in the café has images of dogs. If you’re a dog lover you may like it here.

In case you’re wondering about the name, it’s because Thai dogs make the sound of bok box, as opposed to woof woof. Well, that’s the explanation I was given.

This is another place that sells decent tea, so we visit here occasionally as well. The coffee is also pretty decent. Bok Box also sells a range of ice cream and Thai food.
